Reiki Healing, Sessions and Classes FAQs How long does a typical Reiki session last? About an hour Is touching required for Reiki? No. If someone prefers not to be touched, that is alright. Otherwise, a Reiki practitioner would gently place their hands on different areas such as the head and shoulders---this would be discussed prior to the start of the session. What should a person wear? Comfortable clothing. Clothing is not removed during a Reiki session. How many times should someone have Reiki work done? Three sessions are recommended to complete the work that is started. There is no set timeframe for the next session, it's up to the individual. Where do these sessions take place? In a quiet room designated for healing energy work. Usually a reiki table would be used (similar to massage table).
